Kaitlyn and Cory, the couple who make you feel as though you’ve been friends for years.

It was a beautiful day out, though a bit too warm for late afternoon in November. The sun was out, sneaking behind the clouds.. There was a light breeze gently blowing through the trees as we walked through the park. We were making our way to the beautiful rocks and creek that ran through at the bottom. As we walked I asked Kaitlyn and Cory a bit more about their pups and their recent move to Austin.

Charlie, the newest addition to Kaitlyn and Cory’s family, was only six months old. They rescued him from The Austin Animal Center! All he wanted to do was say hi to everyone and get some pats from people passing by. Charlie was so excited to get to sniff all the new scents and discover what a bicycle was! Even though Khloe had been the only fur-baby for a while, she was accepting of her new little brother. They make the cutest pair! Khloe was so sweet and full of love. Unlike her exploring brother, she was content to stay clean in Kaitlyn’s arms, haha. Throughout all the distractions (new smells, people, bicycles, other dogs, etc.) both pups were so well behaved.

“Every once and a while a dog… or two, enters your life and changes it forever.”

When I received Kaitlyn’s inquiry explaining that she wanted to do a couple’s session including her two dogs, I was beyond excited! As Kaitlyn and I discussed and planned the session, I knew it was going to be perfect. I quickly got the impression that we had a lot of the same style and ideas. It’s always exciting when you’re planning a session with a new client and feel as though you’re already friends before even meeting one another!

While discussing the session, Kaitlyn mentioned bringing along a good friend to help with the dogs. If you’re considering a session with your fur-babies, this is something I always recommend. Having someone extra at the session to help out, helps me tremendously. By having a friend or family member there to help out, it helps when we want to get some shots without the pups, or maybe of the pups without people. Having a couple extra hands never hurt! This is where the amazing Lainey comes in – she was sincerely the best help I could have asked for.

I am so glad that Kaitlyn and Cory decided on this location. It isn’t ideal for everyone as there is a little bit of walking involved to get to some of the prime spots. However, if you’re up for the short walk, it is more than worth it! The creek at this location is definitely one of my favorite parts as there are so many beautiful areas to use in your photos. When we got to the water, none of us were sure how Charlie would react. Even though it wasn’t deep, of course Kaitlyn and Cory were not sure if he had ever seen water before. He didn’t seem phased by it at all and actually seemed quite interested to attempt jumping in. We had to save that adventure for another day though, haha.

When we were walking back from the creek there is an area with rocks that I love and have always wanted to use.. I pointed them out to Kaitlyn and Cory asking if they’d be up for trying it. There was no hesitation from either of them, Kaitlyn was happy to jump up on the ledge with Cory. As Lainey was standing behind me, she was just as excited as I was for these shots..

As I was capturing these gorgeous moments of Kaitlyn and Cory against the rocks, I was so thankful they trusted me enough to try it. The rocks are now definitely another favorite part of this location for me. I love to be able to give my clients a look that seems as though we were somewhere else entirely. When I look at those shots, I don’t think of Texas at all, I instantly think of somewhere like Arizona..

Thank you for taking the time to do a few consult emails with me regarding your outfits and posing ideas, it was a lot of fun and I think everything turned out amazing. You guys are so sweet and adorable together, I wish you nothing but the best! I hope to work with you guys again soon.
