I have been working on the idea of offering my clients a ‘Creative Photoshoot’ option specifically for their children. These sessions are for kids to be just that, kids. To be themselves, to use their imagination. To get to pretend that they are what they dream to become one day. A doctor, ballerina, vet, firefighter, or apparently now-a-days – an IT Tech hahaha. Or, perhaps even a PILOT! Liam loves getting to play around and is such a little jokester. When I had the idea of creating an airplane out of cardboard, along with him getting to wear a hat and goggles.. He was beyond excited! His nanny, the amazing Ms. Venus helped us with making the airplane – how awesome did it turn out!?
It was a beautiful evening back home, in Grand Cayman. The weather was perfect; it is my favorite time of year after all! I forgot what it was like to photograph next to the ocean, no matter what location you chose. I forgot how much I enjoyed smelling the salt air, and hearing the waves crash.
While I love my more posed sessions, you will notice a lot of my photoshoots that include children tend to be a bit more candid. This is because kids should be able to be themselves, even during photoshoots. I want kids to have fun, and to not feel restricted during a photoshoot. It should be a fun time full of laughter.
I loved to see Liam have his own ideas and input throughout the session and when we were making the plane. It’s always great to have kids so involved in the photoshoot and the planning process of it! This way, they are excited to be a part of the session. Let your kids have a little fun, let their imagination run wild! Ask them what they want to be when they grow up, or what they want to dress up as. Memories of them enjoying their afternoon pretending to be anything they can think of, is something you will cherish forever.
“Let them be little, cause they’re only that way for a while.
Give them hope, give them praise, give them love, everyday.
Let em cry, let em giggle, let them sleep in the middle.
Oh just let them be little.
Its time to let them go.”Book your creative photoshoot today!
