It was moments before golden hour, the beautiful light trickling in through the trees… There was a gentle breeze and the beautiful sound of the waterfall nearby as you enter the park. I started to set up the teepee for the Lozano family’s session as I waited for them to arrive. This was a new location that I had scouted out a couple weeks prior to the Lozano’s inquiry. I love the pathways at this park, the light comes through the trees so perfectly at golden hour. If that isn’t enough of a reason to take advantage of this stunning yet secluded spot, there is of course the beautiful waterfall!
“Family, where life begins and love never ends.”
I had been excited to meet and work with this family since I had first spoken with Lisette. They were so excited to work with me and to all be together for a family portrait. Apparently getting them all together in one photo has never happened. When I hear that families haven’t been able to all get together for a group portrait, I always feel immensely honored to be a part of their session.
There were two families coming together with their grandmother, of course their dog, Capitán, was invited too! :) Each family had two beautiful kids, poor Jakob was the only grandson but he still had loads of fun. I loved his love of hats and the fact that he wanted to include a couple different ones in the photos haha.
When the Lozano family arrived, you could immediately sense their excitement and of course their love for each other. As they all helped each other with the final look over before getting in front of the camera, it made me smile. The entire session was full of smiles and laughing. As I took individual shots of each one of them, everyone else would stand behind me and make them laugh.

Family is so amazing, having photos to look back on and remember times together is so important! Photographing big families is a lot of fun to me and always makes me miss my own family. Getting everyone in my family together for photos is difficult as well. We live all over in different countries! The best thing about photographing families is when they come back to me year after year. I love being a part of all their special events (birthdays, graduations, holidays). I also love that I get to see the kids reach new milestones, and grow up.
To the Lozano family…
