Of all the places I lived, I didn’t think that Texas would be the place where we had our first snow day! I’m sure a lot of people in Austin were just as surprised as I was. The night before there was a little snow on the ground, but not much and no one thought it would stay or continue through the night. When I woke up the next morning and saw that not only had it not melted, but it had apparently continued snowing through the night I was so excited. I rushed out the doors with my pups, beyond excited to take photos of them.
I can promise you all that by the end of this session my hands were numb!
You may be wondering — who are these dogs? Most of you who follow me on social media will recognize these two fur babies from some of my posts. Both of my pups, Karma & Kiara, are rescues. You can read more about them on my about page.
Karma, my Lab/Dane I brought with me from Jamaica. I adopted her from a ‘whoops’ litter when I lived there. She was not too fond of the snow at first and tried to avoid walking on it completely, haha. While she loves to run in the cooler weather, she is definitely a ‘sun dog‘ and prefers being warm.
Kiara, my younger pup, is a Great Pyrenees mix rescued from the local Austin Humane Society. She absolutely loves the cold and was probably more excited than me to run around in the snow.
Kiara definitely made it a little more difficult to get photos of her than Karma did. Though Karma despised sitting on the snow..
Some of the goofy photos I usually wouldn’t include, just for you all to have a good laugh!
