Ember Turns One! | Round Rock, Texas

It was early in the morning, the sun was peeking out from behind the grey clouds… There was a gentle breeze blowing through the park. While we were slightly concerned about whether it was going to rain or not, we were more thankful that it wasn’t immensely hot out. When the Leky family pulled up, they had a car full of props. This session was going to be so much fun!

Tara wanted some family portraits first, which I think is always a great idea. Posing the four of them together was so sweet. Ember wanted down in the grass so that he could hop around on his knees. Officially the cutest way I’ve ever seen a toddler ‘crawl’! Astra was ready to explore the big field and run around the trees. Both kids were adorable. The entire family was amazing to work with! Being there to capture these beautiful moments with them was very special.

Astra, was the best big sister, and photographer’s assistant! She was great at getting her brother to laugh, and was happy to take some photos with just the two of them together. I love seeing siblings cuddle up together and giggle. Astra’s smile was contagious!!

Tara had an amazing set-up idea for her son’s Smash Cake session. His birthday party was monster themed! She brought along all the props she had made for his party, along with a cake! After all, what’s a Smash Cake session without a cake? We set everything up as we had discussed beforehand. Ember got changed into an adorable outfit, complete with suspenders and a bow tie! How cute does he look?!

Next up was a bath tub and bubbles. A great way to finish the session after a messy smash cake! Ember had adorable floating “monsters” instead of duckies, haha. Astra, was such a great help with the bubble machine. Ember was full of giggles as they blew towards him, popping all around. These are the fun candid moments that are so beautiful to capture of children.

Leky family, thank you for asking me to be a part of this milestone in your family’s life. Your children were a joy to work with! I feel honored to have been a part of Ember’s first birthday! Your family is full of so much love. It was truly a pleasure meeting and getting to work with the four of you. I look forward to working with you all again in the future.
