Alyson and Michael are ENGAGED!
I have been photographing people for eleven years now. Yet somehow, still to this day, being asked to travel to photograph clients still makes me feel so honored! I absolutely love traveling, and I love being a part of all my client’s milestones. Getting a video call from Alyson to say that she was finally engaged was the BEST!
If you have been following my site and blog for a while, you may remember when I photographed Alyson and Michael last, back in 2016!
The truth is, I have been photographing Alyson and Michael from the beginning of their relationship; which started ten years ago. They have been my clients from the early stages of my career! Alyson has always been such an amazing model throughout the years. It has always been a pleasure when we are able to get Michael in front of my camera too. While he may complain a little at first, he always ends up loving photoshoots in the end!
The last time I was home, Michael secretly told me that he had bought the ring, he was ready to pop the question! This was torture for me to keep from Alyson, but I knew she would be so excited when it happened. What better place, or time, than on their ten year anniversary during their Alaskan cruise! Alyson was extremely surprised, as well as overjoyed. I can’t lie, I even cried a little when I got the news.
When Alyson and Michael were discussing engagement photos for their save the dates, it was unsure for a while where and when we would do them. They decided on doing them in Cayman, and asked me if I would be willing to fly in to photograph it. If?! OF COURSE! I was on a flight that following weekend. This is an engagement session I had been so eager to do for so many years, I couldn’t wait another second!
Since this was a destination engagement session, we ended up doing three sessions over a weekend. Two days, multiple locations, multiple outfit changes = every photographer’s dream…
Before I even arrived, Alyson and I already had so many ideas for locations! Narrowing down which ones we would use was really difficult.. Michael definitely thought we were crazy when we kept stopping at different trees on the way to the beach, haha. I love when my clients just trust in my vision, even if it seems a little odd. If you saw where we found the first tree below, you’d probably wonder what I was thinking…
Some of you may not recognize the red blossoming tree; it’s a Poinciana. These trees are sincerely one of my FAVORITES. I think they are absolutely gorgeous! The beach we decided on is one not many tourist go to. This made it perfect for the deserted beach look that we wanted. I absolutely love the rocks here as well and knew it had the perfect combination of variation that we wanted for the end of the session.
This is what being a photographer is all about… Capturing memories that people can treasure for years to come. It’s about gifting people the ability to hold on to milestones and share them with family and friends, years after they were achieved. Giving your clients the gift of passing on these images to their children and grandchildren. It is such an honor being able to give my clients this type of endless gift.
Alyson and Michael, thank you so much for flying me back home to photograph this special time in your life, as well as your relationship. It was truly such an honor to be a part of this amazing milestone in your relationship. You both are such beautiful people, inside and out. I couldn’t be more happier for you both taking this step together. You guys are the definition of relationship goals! I cannot wait to see what is yet to come in the future for you both. I know you will achieve great things, and go amazing places; together and as individuals.
