For those of you who know me, know what I have only been in Texas for a few years now. I was actually raised for the majority of my life in Grand Cayman. I know, how fortunate am I? All thanks to my Mum, who wanted me to be able to be around my grandmother and aunt while I was growing up. Most of my most favorite beloved memories of living in Cayman include the beautiful crystal clear blue ocean. Somehow the view never got old. It wasn’t something you ‘got used to’, it was always just as beautiful every day you saw it.
When I go back to visit my family, I make it a point to also get out on the ocean. What better way to do that than on a private charter? There are boat companies that take loads of people out at a time, and while it can be fun, there is something so amazing about having a boat to yourself (or just with your family/friends). Jon Soto and I go way back as friends. We have known each other from late into my high school years. For as long as I’ve known Jon, he’s been a lover of boats and the ocean. Whatever free time he had, that’s where he was!
Jon Soto is now not only the main boat captain for Robert Soto Watersports, but also the owner of the company. Jon brings years of experience on the water to the company. He knows all the best places to explore in Grand Cayman, just let him know what you want to see and he will take you there!
Captain Soto was born and raised in Grand Cayman. He is a true Caymanian who loves his island. He learned early on that the island’s best-kept secrets reside in the ocean. His Grandfather pioneered the Scuba Diving Industry in our tiny piece of paradise and Jon naturally shared his family’s dedication to the ocean. His Grandfather encouraged the younger generations of the family to educate visitors about the world and ocean around them. Through his teenage years he started learning the basics of boat operation and worked towards earning his captain’s license.
Not only is Jon an amazing captain, he is fantastic at being the best host you could wish for on the water. He is fantastic with all his guests, and is great with kids when they’re on board as well. There is a lot to see surrounding our little island of paradise; if you’re wanting to see all the best parts of it, Soto is your man!
This time when I was planning to go out I told Jon that we definitely need to capture some beautiful photos for him. I invited my good friend, Shirley along to be a model on Jon’s beautiful new boat! Dates pending for when it will be available for private charters, so stay tuned… We all had so much fun together and it was fantastic being able to capture photos of this gorgeous new boat in the ocean.
Jon, thank you so much for taking me out for such an amazing and relaxing trip while I was back home. I truly missed being out on the water like that and had such a fantastic time. Getting to see and swim with the stingrays again at Stringray City is always my favorite! Starfish Point is a close second though… But seriously, let’s talk about that s’mores pizza at Kaibo! ;) There’s no one else I would trust to take me out for the day in the middle of the ocean than Robert Soto Watersports. My family and I always have such an amazing time and couldn’t ask for a better experience!
Maegan these are seriously SO gorgeous! I love the contrast and makes me miss visiting my good friend in Bermuda!!! Jon is lucky to have you capture these for him!
