Kynley’s Smash Cake Session | Cedar Park, Texas

What better day to post this blog for Kynley’s smash cake, than on her actual first birthday?!
Happy Birthday to this beautiful, happy, giggly, sweet little girl!

It’s hard to believe that it has already been nearly a year since I first met the Jordan family, and photographed Kynley’s newborn session. It was a lot of fun getting to work with Kaitlyn and Kynley, as well as getting to meet Kaitlyn’s amazing mum. From the first time I met Kaitlyn, it was easy to feel as though we had known each other for ages.

I felt so honoured when the Jordan family reached out to me again to do more photos. Getting to be a part of so many milestones through Kynley’s life has been remarkable. The best is when I got to see her again for her six month photos. It was the first time I got to meet Jason and do photos of everyone together! Not to mention, what better way to celebrate being able to sit up than to do a little milk bath session! :) Next up was Kynley’s first fall photos, which she posed for my mini set-up in! Then we did her first Christmas photos. Kynley is such a gem, she got to pose for Christmas photos twice by being a model for my minis. So many beautiful memories throughout this last year. Getting to see all of these showcased on Kaitlyn’s social media today really brought a smile to my face. Capturing all these memories for families is definitely my why for being a photographer.

I love collaborating with Kaitlyn on ideas for these sessions. She always has the best, and most adorable ideas! When she sent me some inspiration photos, I had to laugh. I had the exact same teepee! :) We ran with the idea and I love how it came together. We did a sunset session in a field I often use. It has some of the best glowy sunset backgrounds you could ever hope for. I hope that I was able to bring Kaitlyn’s vision to life!

Whenever I book smash cake sessions, I always suggest that my clients consider additionally buying a little cupcake for their child to ‘trial run’ with a few days before the session. This is only because a lot of kids at this age haven’t had desserts yet and can sometimes be confused by the textures and what to do on the day of the session. The Jordan family didn’t have a chance to do this beforehand, so we were all truly just hoping that Kynley would enjoy the cake and have fun in the photos.

It’s always hard to know how a toddler is going to react for these photos. It was hilarious to see Kynley instantly LOVE the cake. She touched it once, and instantly looked at both Jason and Kaitlyn as if to see if they were allowing her to. When no one told her to stop, she started to dig in by the handfuls!!! We all couldn’t help but laugh hysterically at her. It was as though she eats cake all the time, and it’s her favorite food. She had so much fun and loved every second of it. I’m sure it’s safe to say that this was by far her favorite photoshoot to be a part of…

Jordan family, thank you so much for always allowing me to be a part of all these spectacular moments in your lives with your beautiful little one. Kynley is such a sweet girl. Seeing her throughout the year has been beyond special to me. She is such a happy little girl because she is so very loved by you both. Getting to see you all together is always beautiful. I am so very excited to continue to watch her grow and change over time. I look forward to being a part of many more milestones and capturing more memories of you all together.
