Karma’s Smash Cake Session | Georgetown, Texas

Today my beautiful pup, Karma turned seven! Anyone who knows me, knows she is my world… A lot of people ask me where or how I got my dogs. As for Karma, I adopted her when I was living in Jamaica. She is half Great Dane and half Labrador. The owners of her parents just wanted the puppies to find good homes; the litter was an accident. Personally, I couldn’t be happier that the ‘accident’ happened. Karma came into my life at the perfect time and I can’t imagine the past seven years without her.

Karma is an extremely special pup; she has a way of bringing a smile to everyone’s face. I haven’t met a person who doesn’t love being around her. Karma has a way of knowing when someone needs attention, or cheering up. She is truly a gift.

We have been through so many adventures, life changes (good and bad) together. She makes every day good because no matter what, she’s there; wagging her tail, ready to snuggle or be her goofy self.

Anyone who has met my dogs knows how much love they have to give and how much personality they both have. If you aren’t a dog lover, you maybe won’t understand and that’s okay. For my fellow dog lovers out there, you know that coming home to that wet nose, wagging tail, and endless love is something so very special.

Karma is in love with food, swimming, meeting people and snuggling. Today I was able to give her an extra dose of all her favorite things. We went for a four mile hike at a new park where she was able to swim. She got to meet new people and dogs. She got our traditional egg birthday breakfast this morning, and a cake for her photos. We snuggled all morning as well as this evening. To see her so excited for some of the most simple things, is the best feeling.

A few of you have asked in the past when seeing my social media posts about where I get my dog’s cakes from. I always bake them myself! I wanted to share the recipe I used today for this with you all. You can get it here. The ‘frosting’ is just peanut butter and low fat plain yogurt. I mix in each until I get the consistency that I want. Don’t worry, Karma didn’t eat the entire cake. It was shared between her and Kiara.

My love of portraits is definitely based on people, but I am all about the pets in your family’s life as well. Bring them along to your family session, book them their own session – I don’t mind. Animals are special and important to us all, have them be included! :)

None of these photos would have happened in time for today if it wasn’t for my amazing Mum. My Mum is staying with me currently and has been such a wonderful help. She is the one who assisted me with pulling all of this together. My schedule has been intense lately and I was so thankful for everything she does! It’s hard to get an evening off from photographing clients to be able to do any personal photos. I am truly happy I was able to have an evening to do this with not only Karma, but with my mum. Teaming up with her is always amazing. I’ve been soaking up all this gifted time with her through COVID and I couldn’t be happier.
Hug your loved ones, people and animals alike.
More love, less hate.

Thank you to all of my clients who support my animal love tendencies, and especially for those of who you read to this point, haha. I love and appreciate you all so much!

Here’s to many more years of love and adventures with my girl, Karma.
