The Duncan family was visiting from Louisiana to see a good friend. When they contacted me a few months prior to their trip, I was beyond excited that they had asked me to be a part of their FIRST professional family photoshoot.
Getting to work with and meet Brad, Michalah, Eden, and Jude was a dream. They really gave me all of their trust and the creative freedom throughout the session. There is no better feeling than having clients trust your vision and your work.
Eden was too adorable and ready to be on an adventure! She was excited to explore the entire park and collect as many rocks as she could. Getting to be tickled, cuddled, and chased around by her mum and dad was of course a bonus. Jude was such a superstar; he was extremely calm and happy the entire session. Happy to be held by any and everyone.
Getting to capture some beautiful photos of just Brad and Michalah together was precious to me. Many parents are focused on photos of their kiddos as the primary shots for the session, but I think photos of parents alone are just as important. With Eden and Jude being so well-behaved it was easy to get stunning shots of everyone in every variation!
When working with all my clients, I never want to push too hard for any particular posing to work if it simply isn’t; especially with younger kids. Sometimes just letting them be themselves is the best approach. Truthfully, my favorite photos are always the more candid emotional photos that I capture. Typically I use a more ‘prompted’ posing approach, this means getting the client in the right area and setting up a moment to happen more organically. Getting parents to tickle kids, having the husband whisper something hilarious in his wife’s ear, etc. These make for those genuine moments between you all that are gorgeous but not actually posed.
The Duncan family got so many gorgeous combinations of both prompted and posed photos, I couldn’t be happier with this entire session. I was so excited to share their sneak peeks with them, as well as with you all.
There are too many stunning photos to narrow down for even this blog post, but I did my best. I hope you all enjoy them and are filled with as much love while looking at them, as this family was filled with for one another.
Duncan family, thank you for asking me to be a part of this milestone in your family. It was such an honor to meet and work with you. I hope these images bring you so much joy and love throughout the coming years when looking back on them. I hope you all come and visit again soon!
These pics are so beautiful! I love them all! Wow! Wow! Wow!
