Shanna & Brian’s Maternity Session | West Bay, Grand Cayman

It was a beautiful morning in Cayman, there was a gentle breeze blowing through the field, and sun peaking through the clouds. I was so excited to meet Shanna and Brian, and to be a part of this special milestone in their marriage.. A maternity session for their first child.

Shanna is expecting a beautiful little girl in only a couple of weeks! I am so sad that I won’t be on island to photograph her newborn session, but I can’t wait to meet her next time I come back. Working with both Shanna and Brian was so much fun; they are sincerely the sweetest couple. I love when I’m working with couples and the love they have for one another is clear to see. You could tell how eager they are to meet their little girl, and their excitement was definitely contagious.

Planning this maternity session with Shanna was a lot of fun and our ideas from the start were very similar. It’s always fun discussing with my clients beforehand the style of session they’re wanting and helping with their outfit choices, and location options. I love the variety I was able to provide for them getting both the field, the Caymanian house, and the beach.

I was nervous as it started to drizzle with rain part way through the session that Shanna wouldn’t want to finish, but she was adorable and more than happy to continue shooting. She said she suspected it would rain, since it always does when she gets photos done. Even on her wedding day! Brian was prepared and already had an umbrella in the car which made us all laugh throughout the remainder of the session as he helped shield her in between poses and locations.

Shanna and Brian, thank you so much for asking me to be a part of this time in your lives. It was truly special to help capture these memories of your maternity session with you both before your little girl arrives. Shanna, I wish you nothing but the best with your delivery and cannot wait to see photos of her! Brian, I’m so excited for you to meet your daughter. I already know she will be so loved by you both, and your families.
