It was a beautiful morning, with a gentle breeze rustling the leaves around us. The light was slowly peeking through the trees, shining all around Patra and Tyler as they walked across the rocks. I love being a part of telling a couple’s love story over time, as they reach new milestones together. I started photographing Patra & Tyler last year when they wanted some fall photos done together. Showcasing their love for one another through images was so easy; it naturally shined through… When I did their first session and Tyler started dancing with Patra in the field, it just was too sweet!
A week prior to their session, I showed Patra this location and she instantly fell in love with it. “This is it. This is where I want our engagement photos done!” It was a park they not only hadn’t done photos at or even visited before. I had shot a beautiful family session at this location before, using different parts of the park during that session. It’s a huge park and has so many beautiful spots throughout!
I have been photographing Patra & Tyler for the last year now. I was so excited for them when Tyler told me that he was going to propose! He admitted how terrible he is at keeping secrets, especially from Patra, and was dying to tell someone about it! They’re planning to move to Colorado next year but haven’t visited yet. They decided to make a trip this year in the spring to see what it was like. Tyler thought it was the perfect opportunity to propose! The best part is, he has been joking with Patra everywhere they go about how perfect of a place it would be to ask her. He kept doing this on their trip, and did it once more as they were standing at the shrine of the sun, overlooking Colorado Springs. She was standing ahead of him as he said “wow, this would be the perfect place to propose” for the fifth time that day. She got so frustrated and turned around to him on his knee holding out the ring. He said it was priceless to watch her face register so many different emotions so quickly. She wasn’t able to say yes right away as she started crying and hugging him.
When they wrote me to tell me the story, I had the biggest smile on my face. It was the perfect engagement story for their relationship, and their personalities. Patra was completely surprised!!! Tyler and I were relieved that she finally knew so we didn’t have to keep it a secret anymore.. I was excited for them to get back so I could congratulate them both!
They’ve decided to have an intimate ceremony locally in Texas in October! I felt very honored when they asked me to be their photographer for not only their engagement photos, but their wedding as well. Building relationships with my clients like this is why I love my job. I truly love being a part of their milestones. We’ve already discussed me making a trip to Colorado to photograph them there as well. I’m overly excited for the start of this new chapter for their lives, and their relationship.
Patra & Tyler, thank you so much for asking me to be a part of this time in your life. Thank you for being such amazing clients, always. Your support for my work is greatly appreciated, more than I can ever put into words. It makes me sad to think about you guy moving away, but I could not be happier for you both starting this new adventure together.
Counting down the days until October 20th!
So happy for you both. stunning session, great memories to hold. Again Maegan, awesome shots, love this location too.
