Isn’t it funny how you can visit a location multiple times, and feel as though you can’t love it any more than you already do? Yet, as well as you know it, and as much as you love it – you photograph another session there and fall in love with it all over again. That’s what happened at this session.
Not everyone is willing to walk through, and stand in, freezing cold water to get shots like these. If you are willing to, as you can see – it’s totally worth it!
Samantha loved the look of the creek at this location every time she saw a session I had done there. I was really excited to show her firsthand how the park looked and to walk them through all my favorite spots.
This park was one of the first places I found in Texas when I moved here. I remember exploring it for the first time and falling in love with how beautiful it was. The more I went, the more areas I saw and found… It’s always had a place in my heart because of that. There is something special about being able to share a place like that with someone.

HOW HE POPPED THE QUESTION
While Travis was away for SERE training, he asked Samantha to come visit him during his break. They stayed in Montana at a beautiful hot spring resort (Quinn’s Hot Springs Resort) where Samantha got to see snow for the very first time! One evening while sitting on the porch, casually viewing the Rocky Mountains, Travis gave Samantha a Rae Dunn plate as an early Valentine’s Day gift. When she thanked him, he said “you know I love you, right?”, to which she replied “I love you too”. She gave him a kiss and next thing she knew, she was opening her eyes to him getting on one knee, holding a ring she completely ignored.. “Will you marry me?”
Samantha was crying so much that Travis claims he had to ask her twice (hahaha), to which, she of course said YES! :)
I truly felt special to get a video call (on the day he asked!) from Travis and Samantha to tell me that they were engaged! I was so happy for them. It was really sweet to get to hear the story from Samantha, so much excitement in her voice, and on her face. :)

Travis, thank you for being so awesome throughout this part of the photoshoot especially, haha. You made it look so easy to be standing in that water! Thank you for going along with all of our ideas. Samantha, planning all of this long distance was a lot of fun and I’m so glad that it all came together for you just as we had envisioned and planned it. You both are so amazing together!! I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed being a part of planning and photographing it.
Wow another amazing photo shoot stunning backdrop and such a beautiful storey.
